Munich’s largest and most famous event is, without a doubt, Oktoberfest. Originally the wedding ceremony of the Bavarian Crown Prince, it now attracts guests from all over the world. When “O’zapft is” (“It is tapped”) rings out in the beer tent, that is the signal that the start of the two-week festival has finally arrived. The Munich Oktoberfest is an extremely popular attraction for people from nearby, but also from all over the world. Every year millions of visitors come to Munich to experience and celebrate Oktoberfest. Not surprisingly, many guests from Japan, the United States and Italy keep coming back to be part of this huge event. After all, the most diverse cultures gather here to peacefully celebrate one of the greatest folk festivals in the world.
